Our White Day Designathon is an exciting, inclusive event for CSUF students who are eager to collaborate with others, and create innovate in a fun, supportive environment. This special designathon will focus on creating unique digital experiences that celebrate the spirit of love and connections between people. Whether you’re an experienced designer or a beginner, this event provides a perfect platform to work on something creative and impactful!
Requirements
We invite participants to submit innovative digital experiences that celebrate the spirit of White Day. White Day is a holiday celebrated in some East Asian countries on March 14th, where people reciprocate gifts given to them on Valentine's Day, typically with white-themed presents like chocolates or flowers.
Your idea should take the form of either a website or a mobile application, designed to engage users and capture the essence of love and connection. Whether it's a social platform, a gift recommendation app, or an interactive experience, your design should focus on creating a unique and engaging experience that resonates with users and captures the essence of love and connection
For your submission, we ask that you provide a 5-minute presentation which includes the following key elements:
-
Wireframes: Preferably high-fidelity wireframes that demonstrate the layout, functionality, and flow of the digital experience.
-
Problem Statement: A brief explanation of what problem your solution is solving, and why it's relevant to the prompt of love and connection. Love doesn’t have to be romantic.
-
Target Audience: A description of who your design is for, including user demographics and any relevant behaviors or preferences.
-
Design Choices: Provide reasoning behind key design decisions, including features, color schemes, and interactions, explaining how these choices enhance the user experience and resonate with the Valentine’s theme.
We encourage creativity and practicality, so feel free to explore a wide range of ideas—whether it’s a simple app or an elaborate interactive web experience. Bonus points will be awarded for user-friendly design that enhances usability and accessibility.
Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
-
Innovation: Does the solution offer a fresh perspective or new approach?
-
Impact: How significant is the problem being addressed, and how effective is the solution likely to be in making meaningful connections?
-
User-Centered Design: How well does the design meet the needs and preferences of the target audience?
-
Aesthetics: Is the design visually appealing, engaging, and aligned with the theme of love and connection?
We look forward to seeing your creative, thoughtful, and user-centered solutions!
